Welcome to the Lancaster YMCA Swim Team

Welcome to the Team!

We're so excited you've joined our swim family!

Whether this is your swimmer's very first season or you're joining us from another program, we know starting with a new team can feel overwhelming. There are new faces, new routines, and plenty of questions—and that's completely normal.

The YMCA of the Roses Swim Team is more than just a competitive swim team. We are a community that encourages athletes to work hard, support one another, and grow both in and out of the pool. Our coaches, swimmers, and families are committed to creating a positive, welcoming environment where everyone belongs.

This page is designed to help you get started. You'll find important information about:

  • Practice locations and schedules
  • Required equipment and team gear
  • Meet information and what to expect
  • Parent volunteer opportunities
  • Team communication tools
  • Frequently asked questions
  • Helpful tips for your first season

Please remember—you don't have to figure everything out on your own. Every experienced swim parent was once a new swim parent, and we're always happy to answer questions or point you in the right direction.

We encourage you to introduce yourself at practice, get to know other families, and become involved with the team. The friendships formed here often last far beyond the swimming years.

Thank you for choosing the Lancaster YMCA Swim Team. We can't wait to watch your swimmer grow in confidence, develop new skills, and create lasting memories.

Our Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is a dedicated group of parent volunteers who work behind the scenes to help make our team successful. Think of us as the swim team's version of a PTO—we partner with our coaches and YMCA staff to support the team outside of the pool.

While our coaches focus on training and developing our athletes, the PAC helps with many of the things that keep our team running smoothly, including:

  • Planning team events and social activities
  • Organizing fundraising efforts
  • Coordinating volunteers for meets and team functions
  • Welcoming new families and answering questions
  • Supporting communication between families and the team
  • Helping create a fun, positive team environment

The PAC does not coach swimmers or make coaching decisions. Our role is to support our coaches, our athletes, and our swim families so everyone has a great experience.

Meet Our PAC Members

The following parents have generously volunteered their time to serve on the PAC:

  • Brianne Wagner, President
  • Anne Adams, Vice President
  • Erin Brossman, Secretary
  • Kari Miller
  • Karen Youtz
  • Kelley Keel
  • Katy DeCoursey
  • Katie Herr

Please don't hesitate to introduce yourself when you see us at practice or meets. We were all new swim parents once, and we're happy to answer questions, explain how things work, or point you in the right direction.

Interested in Getting Involved?

The PAC is always looking for parents who want to help make our team even better. Whether you have a few hours each season or are interested in taking on a larger role, we'd love to have you join us.

If you're interested in serving on the Parent Advisory Committee or would like to learn more about what we do, please reach out to any PAC member or email us at PAC4lany@gmail.com.
