Why do I need to volunteer?

Swim meets and team events can’t run without parent volunteers! From timing races to helping with concessions, every role is crucial to giving our swimmers a great experience. Your help keeps the team running smoothly and supports our kids in and out of the pool.

What are the volunteer requirements?

Each family is required to volunteer a minimum of 4 credits throughout the short-course season (September-March). Two of these credits are required during the Holiday Classic Swim Meet we host December 11th-13th. The other sessions are at your choosing and are required regardless of your swimmer(s) participation in meets. If it's a meet we are hosting (we host the Holdiay & 2 dual meets during the season) more volunteer opportunities will be available. Read more about the Holiday Classic here Holiday Classic. It takes over 45 people to run a meet, your volunteering helps spread the workload fairly among all families.

Where can I sign up?

New This Year! You can now sign up for all volunteer jobs on commit (the same platform you use to sign up for meets). Commit will track everyone's credits and we will update job opportunities as we have them. What types of volunteer jobs are available?

There’s something for everyone! If you are interested in any of the following roles that require training please contact the PAC PAC4LANY@gmail.com. Common volunteer roles include:

• Timers- if you can run a stop watch you can time. If you would feel more comfortable with training please email the PAC.
• Stroke & Turn Officials (training provided!)- if you are interested in becoming an official please contact the PAC. Every swim meet always needs officials. This will get you on deck with your swimmer, access to the hospitality areas and the opportunity to meet lots of other swim parents! 
• Computers System (training provided!)
• Timing System (training provided!)
• Concessions- if we are hosting
• Event set-up and clean-up- if we are hosting
• Awards and ribbons- if we are hosting
• Team photographer or social media support

Can I choose my volunteer jobs?

Yes! We post a sign-up schedule asap before each meet or event, and families can pick the roles that best fit their availability and interests. Some jobs fill up quickly, so sign up early!

What happens if I don’t fulfill the volunteer requirement?

Families who don’t meet the volunteer requirement will be charged a $100 fee per credit not worked- you must work a total of 4 sessions during the season. Each session is worth 1 credit. A total of 4 credits are required during the season: 2 credits during the Holiday Classic Meet & 2 credits from other meets to avoid being charged. We’d much rather have your help than your money, though—so please pitch in!
